Create an alert rule
Thresholds, tallies and real-time triggers — the rule types Vero can watch for you.
An alert rule is a standing question. Rather than someone remembering to check Insights each Friday, Vero watches the data and tells you when something crosses a line you set.
Open Alerts and choose New Alert.
Choose what to track — out-of-class passes, uniform issues, or late arrivals.

Pick the module, the threshold, and the window the count runs over. Set the threshold. “Alert me when count reaches 3 incidents” is the whole rule.Add another threshold lets one rule escalate — 3 for a heads-up, 6 for a stronger one — rather than needing two rules.
Choose the reset period. Day, week, fortnight, month, term or year. This is the setting people get wrong most often: three passes in a day is ordinary; three in aweek is worth a look; three in a term is noise.
Scope it. Which students — everyone, or a particular house or year group — and which destinations: Any, or specific ones for a targeted rule like bathroom visits only.
Choose how you are told — in-app, email, or both — then read the preview.

The preview reads the rule back in plain English. If it does not say what you meant, fix it here.
Rules worth having
- Frequent flyer. Passes, 5 per week, all students, any destination. The general early-warning rule; nearly every school wants this one.
- Bathroom pattern. Passes, 4 per week, destination limited to bathroom. Narrower, and the one that finds vaping and avoidance.
- Uniform escalation. Uniform issues, thresholds at 3 and 6 per fortnight, scoped to one year group and routed to that year’s coordinator.
- Lateness. Late to class, 5 per week. Catches the student missing half an hour a day whom no roll ever flags.
Setting the number
Start looser than feels right, then tighten. A rule that fires forty times in its first week gets muted, and a muted rule is worse than no rule — it teaches people that Vero notifications do not matter.
Check Insights before you choose. If the top of your Student Activity table sits at eight passes a fortnight, a threshold of three will fire constantly.
