Make positive contributions visible too.

A student shows leadership. You record it in seconds. The school remembers it at report time.

Recognition that doesn't survive the moment

Behaviour systems are built for incidents and consequences. What about the students who are doing the right thing every day?

A teacher praising a student in the corridor with no record being made

Positive moments vanish

A teacher says "well done" in the corridor. No record. No follow-up. The student got recognition in the moment but the system never knew.

Uneven stacks of merit tokens showing inconsistent recognition across teachers

Merit systems are inconsistent

Some teachers hand out 50 merits a term, others hand out none. Without consistency, recognition feels arbitrary — and students notice.

A coordinator struggling to remember which students to recognise at assembly

Assembly awards rely on memory

Who gets called up at assemblies? Usually whoever the coordinator remembered. Not the students who consistently lived the school's values.

How Values in Action works

A short recognition workflow, with records retained according to the school's agreement, instructions and privacy notice.

Two taps, not ten clicks

Teachers don't log positive behaviour in their Student Information System (SIS) because it feels like a data entry task. Vero is built for the moment it happens. Select a student, pick a value, add a note. Done. No navigating six screens — just recognition, recorded in the moment.

  • Takes seconds — works on any device, anywhere in the school
  • Any teacher can recognise any student

Make your values visible

Configure the values language your school already uses. When an authorised staff member records a positive contribution, leadership can review those entries across participating faculties and year levels.

  • A whole-school approach — not siloed across faculties
  • Define your own values — leadership, kindness, courage, or anything else
  • See which values are being recognised most — and least

The data is there before you need it

Deputy principals and heads of year see positive behaviour across the whole school — not a handful of names from the staff meeting. When it's time for assemblies, reports, or parent-teacher interviews, filter by value, year level, or house group and celebrate students backed by evidence, not memory.

  • Whole-school dashboards for principals and wellbeing leads
  • Per-student recognition history for report cards
  • Records from authorised staff who use the workflow
School Culture

Accountability goes both ways

Values in Action gives authorised staff a consistent way to record positive contributions against the school's configured values. Each school can evaluate how the workflow fits its own recognition approach during the pilot.

  • Balance behaviour records with positive recognition
  • A consistent framework the whole school uses — not one teacher's initiative
  • Give students a reason to engage, not just comply

Common questions

Can we define our own school values?
Absolutely. Your school admin configures the values that appear in the system — respect, resilience, integrity, community, or whatever your school uses. You can update them at any time without losing past records.
Do students see their recognition?
You choose how recognition reaches students. A school might share selected recognition at assemblies, in reports, form-room acknowledgements or newsletters. Vero records entries created by authorised staff; your school decides what to celebrate and how to communicate it.
How does this differ from our existing merit system?
Values in Action lives inside Vero alongside other authorised school workflows. Staff select from the values your school configures, and leaders can review the recognition records without relying on physical tokens or a separate spreadsheet.
Can recognition data be used in student reports?
Yes. You can pull a per-student summary of all values recognition for a given term or year. This can be exported and included alongside academic data in student reports or parent-teacher interviews — giving parents a richer picture of their child's contribution to the school community.
Is Values in Action included in all plans?
Values in Action is included for every Vero school, on both Core and Connected plans. It's part of the same Vero platform — same login, same device, no extra setup. Book a walkthrough and we'll show you how it works alongside the rest of your Vero setup.
