What is a digital hall pass?
A digital hall pass (also called an out-of-class pass in Australian schools) replaces paper sign-out sheets with a shared digital record. When a student needs to leave class, the teacher creates a pass in seconds. The system records the selected destination, how long the pass stays open and when the student returns, supporting the school's duty-of-care processes. Compare digital and paper workflows.
How does Vero work?
Vero is a digital out-of-class pass system. Teachers create a pass in two clicks — select the student and choose a destination. The pass appears immediately in the school's live dashboard, giving staff a shared view of active passes and their recorded destinations.
Is Vero compliant with Australian privacy laws?
Vero publishes its Privacy Policy so schools can assess the service against the privacy requirements that apply to them. The primary application database is hosted in Sydney, Australia; supporting providers, purposes and processing countries are disclosed in that policy. Vero does not sell school data or use it for advertising or to train AI models.
How long does it take to set up?
A defined pilot group can generally be live within one week, subject to data readiness, Wonde approval and any local school allowlisting. Vero Core uses manual student-data management; Vero Connected syncs approved student, class and timetable data through Wonde.
What does Vero cost?
Vero Core is $3 AUD per enrolled student per year and Connected is $4, excluding GST. Every current Vero module is included in both plans. Schools can begin with a paid one-term pilot; if they continue to an annual subscription, the pilot fee is credited in full. See full pricing.
Do students need a device?
No. Vero is teacher-led: an authorised staff member creates the pass from a laptop, tablet or phone. Students do not need an account, personal device or GPS tracking.
Is there a mobile app?
Vero is a browser-based progressive web app optimised for mobile. Staff can bookmark it or add it to a home screen, with no app-store deployment. It works in modern browsers on school-approved devices.
Does Vero work for schools of all sizes?
Vero is primarily designed for Australian secondary and P–12 schools, including multi-campus structures and period-based timetables. Primary schools can also use a simpler teacher-led pass workflow; see our primary-school overview to assess the fit.
What about student privacy?
School and role permissions limit access to authorised staff, and hosted records are encrypted in transit and at rest. Vero collects data needed to provide the configured school service and publishes its provider, purpose and country disclosures in the Privacy Policy.
